Hi,

I broke the stem that the knob fits onto to control the oven temperature. I think that the part I need is: PS404252. If this is true, than this part cost more than half of the cost of a new stove...any suggestions on where to get a cheaper part?

Yes that is the part that you would have to replace if you broke the shaft off of it.

You may be able to fix it with JB weld or a two part epoxy if it not flush with the range.
