Default Broiler element replacement
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 911 4832996
Age: More than 10 years

My broiler element in the top over burnt out and I have a new one to install. I think I goofed when I removed the old one by unscrewing the old one and pulling it out. The wires are now lurking somewhere in the back of the unit. I have fished a purple one out and am now looking for the other one. What color is it? I do see two red ones back there but they seem to be a pair. Shall keep fishing or will I have to pull the over out? If I have to pull the oven, how do I do that?

You will likely have to take the oven out of the wall to locate the wire.

The wiring diagram will tell you what color the wire is and it should be in the control panel area.

Open the door of the oven and locate the screws holding the panel in place.

With the door opened you will also see the screws the hold the oven in the wall.

Here is a link to the parts of your oven model 911 4832996.

Thanks. I have installed the element now but I get no power to either element in the top oven (as indicated by a tester). The bottom oven works fine. The light in the top oven works as does the electronic control panel and clock. Is there an onboard fuse or circuit breaker that might be tripped?

Mike

With your meter you will have to follow the wiring and see where you loose the power.

I don't have the wiring diagram for this wall oven.

Sheila,

The problem has to be a common point doesn't it? Both element sin the top oven don't get power. Where would the common point be, a controller of some kind?
