Default Broiler element not working
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: JKP64GP1
Age: More than 10 years

Hi all, my wife accidentily touched the element and burner it out. I purchased a new element and installed it but the broiler element will still not get hot. I checked the wires and they are connected correctly. I have an ohm meter but really do not know how to use it. I also looked at the unit digram and see several electrical components that could be shorted. The rest of the microwave, oven work fine and there are no error codes being shown. For a complete novice who doesn't have a clue, could someone steer me in the right direction, I'd like to try somethings or get parts before I call and pay more for this, thnaks so much, John

Default Still no results?

I tried to take apart the electrical components and test the wires leading to the broiler coil. If I turn on the broiler and use a ohm meter, I touched the purple wire with the red and the orange with the black and vice a versa and they read nothing. They must be getting some juice because I got shocked one time when I attached the baking unit to the broiler units wires to see if it would get hot, it didn't but I got a good shock disconnecting it. I also found some wiring/diagnosis papers inside the unit when I took it apart and it siad when turning on the broiler, if you hear the relay click 4 times the panel is ok. It does click 4 times. The baking unit clicks 2x. There are no error messages. If I go to sears and get a new panel and its not the right fix, will they accept the return? Any other ideas are greatly appreciated. I need help as baked steak for sunday dinner is not my idea of fun, thnaks John
