Default Bake Element Will Not Heat Properly
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: JBP26WY1WW
Age: 5 - 10 years

Hi,

I have a GE freestanding range (JBP26WY1WW) that the range bake element started acting up a week ago or so. It would not heat up sometimes, other times it would heat up to some lower temperature than it was set to, and other times it worked fine. It has now pretty much stopped heating up all together, however it does get to about 120deg F. I do not get any error codes. I checked the element and I get continuity. I am assuming it is either the temperature sensor or the control board. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I would suspect the control or the sensor too.

Unfortunately the control for your stove is no longer available.

I would first check the connection going to the control.

Here is a link to your range model JBP26WY1WW.

Here are the phone numbers for General Electric US 1-800-626-2005 Canada 1-877-959-8688 they may have a substitute part for the control.

Sheila,

Thanks for the reply. I tried the sensor and it looks like that was not it. It still does not heat properly.

Your comment about my control being no longer available puzzles me. It looks like from the link in your diagram and looking at my oven that the control is diagram number 16 and Parts Select part number PS239445 (GE part numbers: WB27X10311 and WB27X10022 (original)). It appears to be in stock. Is this not the control I need?

Thanks.
