My sister has a Thermadore GSC30CV convection oven (~12 yrs old) with a similar problem. Everything works except when put on bake mode, the bottom heating element doesn't get hot.

They had a factory repair person out who said it could be one of two items and one of those items was no longer made. The other item cost about $500, but may not be the problem. Anyone have an idea what they are talking about and if a little troubleshooting could isolate the problem?

I am a rookie on repairing appliance parts, but I have a VOM and common sense, but I need a little direction. Probably the first thing to check is if there is 240VAC to the heating element, but if there is not??? Thank you.

Yes check to see if you are getting 240 volt to the element.

Check the power going into the control and coming out of the control.

Basically follow the wiring diagram and see where you are loosing your power.

Did the model number come off a tag that also has the serial number on it?

The model number came off of the owners manual which had also had a hand written s/n 95070211. I would assume that is correct, but I know I shouldn't. I hope to get over there sometime this long weekend and do a little poking around on it. Thanks!
