Default Bake element does not heat up
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 911.4108590
Age: 5 - 10 years

A couple of weeks ago the bake element in my oven cracked and caused some sparking and smoke in the oven. I purchased a new element, but it does not heat up. So, I checked the oven wiring and the continuity of the new element. Both fine. I pulled out the oven and began testing the components. One limit switch showed to be open the other closed. I replaced the open switch. Still no heat from the element. I am getting voltage at the element. I think that the only other possibility could be the oven control, but due to the cost, I am trying to make sure there are no other options I might have overlooked. Also the control seems to work as it did before. There are no error messages, etc. Thanks for any advice you can give.

I would agree with you about the oven control. If you are sure the wires did not come off the bake element when you put it on, and the broil element works, I would go with the clock control. If you need me you can reach me at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com Tom
