Unplug the range.

Unscrew the bake element from the inside of the oven and pull it out until you can see the wires.

Unscrew the wires from the element.

Can you please verify your model number?

Default Bottom Element Repair

Thanks for your quick reply! It is actually the bottom lent that has burnt out. It is covered by a metal skin (although the top element is exposed). I cannot figure out how to get the skin off and take a look at it. Any help would be much appreciated!

It is a Whirpool Gold Oven - Model #GJP84902.

OK you have the hidden bake element.

You will have to remove the bake element from the back of the range.

Pull the range out and unplug it.

Remove the back of the range.

Remove the wires of the element.

Remove the cover and remove the element.

The part number for you element is PS402959.

Is your range a Canadian model?
