Red face Amana Self-Cleaning Gas/Electric Range
Brand: Amana
Model Number: ?
Age: 5 - 10 years

My sister decided to use the Amana Self-Cleaning feature yesterday. Now she can not unlatch the door of the oven. Is there an easy fix for this such as restarting the self-cleaning process all over again. My sense is that my sister failed to read the directions and might have tried to open the oven before it had cooled. Any suggestions? My sister is visiting my 95 year old mother where we will have Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday. HELP!

You can try restarting the self-clean and then canceling it to see if the latch will release.

You may have to manually release it from the back of the range.

Try unplugging the range and then plugging it back in this sometimes works.

Can you please supply your model number?

The model number can be found on a tag on the frame of the stove where the drawer closes.
