Default Amana Range turns off while baking
Brand: Amana
Model Number: ARGS7650
Age: 5 - 10 years

Hi,

Our Amana ARGS7650(SSP1130766NSS) intermittently turns off while baking. The entire clock/control panel goes dark (no fault code displayed), and the temperature drops. It will usually come back on within 1 - 5 minutes, only to turn off again shortly thereafter. Broil seems to work fine, although we've only tried it once. Sometimes baking works fine too...its very intermittent.

The service tech said that we need a new clock and overlay, both of which are available on your site. Does this sound correct?

What do I need to unscrew in order to remove the front panel and get access to the clock? How difficult is it for a somewhat technical person with no over repair experience to install the new parts?

Thanks,
Wurli

Anyone?

BTW, broil definitely works, but the oven often turns off after broiling.

Installing new clock (and overlay) fixed the problem.
