oven overheats and want to repair it myself. was wondering if it would be the thermostat or the clock control. any help woulg be greatfull.

Check the oven sensor in the oven.

With an ohm meter you should get a reading of 1100 ohms at room temperature. 75 degrees.

If sensor check to be good then you will have to replace the clock control assembly.
