Hi All:

I ordered a replacement switch for the dual element on my Amana cooktop (Model AKT3040E - arrived on time (one day!) no problem - but ...

Switch looks nothing like original, and the instructions with the switch do not match any of the original wiring. I have stared at the original wire diagram and I cannot decode this - are there instructions somewhere to show how to properly attach the existing wiring?

There is a good possibility you have the wrong switch. With Amana products, you have to give them your manufacturer #. Its on the tag, with the model #. Just wondering is the part # he gave you 12002422. Because that is what I would guess it to be by looking it up. I am not saying that it is the right part #. Thanks! - I suspect this is the problem as well, was hoping I was just missing something easy. I will let you know how this turns out - btw, the part number on the switch I received does not match the one you suggest. Erik
