Default Wont Heat Please Help
Brand: Amana
Model Number: AMV1162AAW
Age: 1 - 4 years

Amana microwave won't heat. Light, fan, timer, and everything else seem normal. No extra loud buzzing or other sounds or smells. Just normal fan & motor sounds. Any help would be appreciated. Also, what is a good outlet for parts and a repair manual? Thanks in advance...

Check your fuses first, part 12 and 34 on this diagram of your model.

I'm not sure if it's the same issue, but my microwave stopped heating and everything else worked, lights, timer etc. It is currently in the repair shop and I was told it was a defective " Magnetron ". We have a " Danby " over the range unit. Mike

Sounds like the same problem I had, I replaced the megatron. Be careful to note the orientation of the connector going into the megatron. In my Amana you can rotate the connector 180 degrees.

Listen from at technician of 30 years, you most likely need a new magnatron, If it did, I would replace the mag, the capacitor, and the diode. To tell you the truth you can go to lowes or home depot, and by a new microwave for less than $200.00. If you need me you can reach me at ApplianceEducator.com Tom
