Default Will turn the plate and lights on not heating
Brand: Roper
Model Number: MHE14XMQ
Age: 1 - 4 years

While replacing the bulb on the bottom of the microwave it sparked and the bulb shattered. Now when plugged in the light on the inside of the microwave will stay on even while not in use. When you try to use it the plate will turn and light is on but the fan won't blow and its not heating. I am not sure what all this means do I just need to trash it and buy a new one or is there possibly a fuse that can be replaced and it run fine? Thanks for any help or advice you can offer. radkins

We see this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide. See my user name?

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

This can often also affect the exhaust fan or turntable operation, too. The lights turntable and fan can be inoperable or stuck on too.
