Default Under light not working
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: jvm1653sh01
Age: 1 - 4 years

I slammed the door to the microwave and the under lights went out. The microwaave is working fine but the 2 lights underneath will not come on.

Is this something I can fix myself?? This is the only light I have over my stove.

I'm having the same problem, but I didn't slam the door, the bulb just blew. When I replaced the bulb, the other one blew, so when I replaced it, they both blew and now I have nothing! Is there a fuse somewhere? I've looked, but can"t find one.

Hello naner & Marie Crouch

In most case the bulb is the trouble on the incandescent bulbs
Take the bulb out and look close at it in good light and you should see the filament.

If its a halogen bulb DO NOT TOUCH the new bulb when installing it.
and if it blows it again you will have to change the socket and the bulb at the same time..

PS Always disconnect power before service...

Hope this helps

We see this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide for $39.95 postpaid. See my user name.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.
