Default Searching for Turntable Parts
Brand: KitchenAid
Model Number: KHMC106WBL0
Age: More than 10 years

I'm trying to locate/obtain a replacement turntable support piece (also called Shaft/Turntable; part #4174943). According to several parts vendors, this part is no longer available. Without it, however, my very reliable microwave-convection oven will not be able to operate its rotating turntable.

Looking for either a way to obtain a used part or contract to have a new part made or figure out some other part that might be substituted in its place.

Current three-legged part is "burned" on one end of one leg. When the microwave is on, the part "Sparks" from that burned point.

Another option would be to receive guidance in how I might repair the current part to make it stop sparking.

Thanks.

I have look around to see if I could find anyone that may have your part with no luck.

You may want to try to clean it up with sandpaper and paint it with a non-metallic food safe paint.

Smile Found a Microwave Parts Guru in Tennessee

Thanks, Sheila. I was able to clean it up with sandpaper and it appears to work fine now. I also discussed the problem with Tim Martin, Martin Microwave, Chattanooga, TN, who knew (unlike most parts vendors) that my Kitchenaid microwave had actually been made by Sharp. He went back through his inventory of Sharp parts and found a new part for me. He also discovered that it now had a different part number and is still stocked and carried by Sharp.com. The interesting thing is that no one else who services Kitchenaid, Whirlpool etc seems to be aware of the Sharp connection. They all just gave up and said "that part is no longer available and there are no replacements available." (This is the difference between talking to a 30-year pro who knows microwaves inside and out, and a newbie order taker who only knows what appears on their computer monitor)

For other readers reference, Tim Martin is a person who will work closely with you to solve your problem, one way or another, not just give you the "official answer." He can be reached at 877-894-0035, 9:30 am - 5 pm EST Mon to Fri.
