Question Need help getting to door latch
Brand: KitchenAid
Model Number: KEMC307KBL
Age: 5 - 10 years

Can you please tell me how to get to the door latch on the right side of microwave? I flipped the plastic latch backward and when I went to pull back forward, the light flickered and went out and now when I close the door, it won't start up and gives the "door" on the digital readout. We've removed all the screws on the "face plate" but can't pull it off. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

You have to remove the trim on the side to access the two screws on the side.

To remove the trim open the oven door and remove the screw from the bottom side of each trim strip.

Pull the trim strip out until it clears the oven.

Lower the trim strip and free it from the top of the front panel.

Here is a link to your microwave/oven model KEMC307KBL.

Well, we couldn't get to the latch the way you described. The whole unit had to be taken out of the cabinet and all the panels removed to get in there. The service person checked the switch on the right side and said one switch was out and replaced the entire assembly and we still get the door message when trying to start it. Well, he then checked the left door latch switch, and it shows it's fine. When you push the "quick start" button, it just beeps and doesn't start. When you enter a number and then push start, it flashes "door" on the display. The service people don't have a clue. Anybody have any answers to a problem like this?

Thanks

If there is nothing wrong with the door switches it is like a fault with the electron control.

We found the problem. It was one of the switches on the right side door latch AND a fuse, so check the fuses, too.

The microwave is fixed as far as cooking, but now the timer doesn't work. Anyone?

What is wrong with the timer is it not counting down?

When the switch went it could have taken the timer out.
