Default Microwave won't work after stovetop fire
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: mmv5156aas
Age: 1 - 4 years

Last month I had a stove-top fire. Fortunately, the fire was contained and was caught in time before our Maytag Microwave mmv5156aas could catch on fire. When the smoke cleared we noticed that the microwave was covered in soot and while the control panel still indicated a time, when we tried to use it I believe we blew a fuse and it hasn't worked since.

My husband took it apart and discovered that in the part of the wire harness that feed to the turntable and the lamp socket the wires had melted together. My husband replaced the whole wire harness and the fuse but the microwave will still not power up. My husband thinks it might be the control board but we don't know for sure. If anyone out there has an idea what it could be we would really appreciate it. We would like to avoid replacing the microwave.

Thanks so much,
Tayalex

some models have high thermal bimetal cutouts (flame sensors).. you would have to look at wiring diagram to see which one is the flame sensor or cutout. usually behind control panel at bottom. you would have to locate and put a meter on it and see if its open. or you can guess order them all and replace them...
