This particular microwave had been part of a recall and the magnetron was replaced about 3-4 years ago.

Right now when you start it up it comes on like normal and it sounds normal for about 4 seconds then makes a much deeper sound and does not heat. I have tested the magnetron with an ohm meter and it tested short at the 2 leads and open from each lead to case of magnetron. This model has a thermostat mounted to the magnetron. Could it be the failed part?

What else can I test on this unit to find the defective part?

Found High Voltage Diode reads 18ohms in both directions. Is it possible that the HV diode is bad but the Magnetron is still good?
