when using microwave it starts to spark. there's a metal plate inside microwave that seems to be burnt. a co-worker told me that piece may be called a "plate air" and may need to be replaced. was wondering if anyone have run across this problem before and if so, is it worth having fixed

Remove the air plate and clean it and behind it.

Some time food splatters will get behind it and cause the sparking.
