Question Microwave repair magnatron?
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: JVM1450Ba
Age: 5 - 10 years

the units works except it doens't heat... So i assume its the magnatron i am otls its item # AH239126 my question is this a user serviceable item or better off bringing to a repair shop... I know you have to discharge the unit prior to working on it but don;t know how accessable it its or how much trobble it is....

I just short the high voltage capacitor terminals; most microwaves use a parallel resistor to discharge the voltage.
Usually, magnetrons fail with a lot of noise, if this didn't happen, you probably have failures in other places like the control relay, hv diode, or shorted hv capacitor. Usually a shorted capacitor will blow the fuze.
