Default Microwave making rattling noise when on
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: mh8150xjt-1
Age: 1 - 4 years

my microwave is suddenly making a rattling noise when it is on. i thought it was either the rack or turntable, but when i take them out it is still doing the same thing. the food is still getting hot, its just noisy. should i have someone come in to service? the service call alone is 65-90 dollars, then repair cost on top of it. my thoughts are maybe i should just let it go on being noisy til it stops heating? or should i repair at this point, and is it worth it?

I have a similar problem with my GE microwave and am hoping to find some help or tips to diagnoze the problem.

I'm currently working on my GE microwave. When we first got it, it made a pretty loud noise while running that sounded more like an out of balance tire than a rattling noise.

When I started poking around (carefully!) I found that the cooling fan for the transformer had bad bushings and was wobbling a bit.

I wonder if your cooling fan could be making the rattling noise you are talking about?
