Angry Microwave doesn't heat food
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: MMV5165AAB
Age: 1 - 4 years

Hello,
All looks normal. The display is fine and there is a normal movement inside the microwave. The food doesn't heat up at all. There is some abnormal noise coming out when the cook timer is started. Sometimes I can feel some burning smell as well. I am not sure whether I should get it repaired or get a new unit. Not sure how much the repir will cost.

Any suggestions?
Thanks a lot,

It sound like the magnetron is bad.

Check in your owners manual you may still have warranty on it.

Here is a link to your microwave model MMV5165AAB.

Thanks for the info.

I was reading through "Free advice" section and I found a similar problem described as "microwave diode" being bad. Is this the same thing as magnetron?
