Default Microwave
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: JE1540WW002
Age: 5 - 10 years

I purchased a new turn table motor and installed it. When I turned on unit, I smelled burning odor and turntable stopped. Unit still works fine. Motor purchased is stamped 21VAC. Original motor was stamped 120VAC. Did I get wrong motor and what do I do now? Thank you.

yes you got the wrong motor... make sure this time you get one that says 120vac. some ge microwaves just pull 21 vac off of the fan motor. yours does not. yes get the right one.

Did you get the motor from PartSelect? No matter, let me steer you to the right solution...

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here:Appliance Parts From PartSelect | Repair Parts For Major Appliances.

Once you do that, I'd grab my receipt and call back the supplier who sent you the wrong motor and threaten them with their State's Attorney General for sending you the wrong part and potentially putting you at risk of a house fire.
