Default Magnetron replacement
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: JVM1860
Age: 5 - 10 years

Need help to replace magnetron, technical enough and aware of the power presence, have discharged the capacitor fully. Need to get to the magnetron compartment which seems impossible unless the whole unit needs to be taken down from its place in order to remove the cover. please advise.

The only way to get at the magnetron is to take it down and remove the cabinet.

There is usually bolts going down through the cupboard.

Here is a link to your microwave model JVM1860.

Thanks Sheila for your help, I finally bought the magnetron and replaced the bad one and the microwave is working fine.
One important tip for taking the microwave down is to tilt the front down and push the back up in order to take it loose from the wall bracket and bring it down for the work on it.
