According to my leakage meter, apparently the magnetron on my unit varies in output going up and down in steps within a period of about 10 seconds, when I place the meter near where the magnetron is connected to the wave guide. I am suspected that the gasket between the magnetron and waveguide is leaking. For example over a period of 10 seconds or so, at any one spot, you may see the meter reach say about 1.0 mw/cm^2, then it will jump to 1.5, then 3.0, then 8.5, then past 10.0, then it will fall down to about 1.0 again. Is this "stepping" typical, or do the magnetrons normally maintain a fairly steady level over a period of 10 seconds?

This testing is best done by a qualified technician.

It is normal for magnetron to fluctuate depending on the mode it is in.
