Hello!

I have a Kenmore Elite Microwave, model # 56560582990, manufacture date of Jan 2000. My husband purchased this for me for Christmas that year, we have really only used it for maybe 2 solid years. We are no longer using it but it makes a plastic smell. When I checked for a recall, I found this,

When I contacted Sears, I was told that this does not apply to mine because it is in fact a countertop model. The thing is, this is what is wrong with mine, we checked and found the melted plastic in the same area. Any suggestions on repairing it or what to do? I am not very happy as it was a pricier one and didn't get nearly the use of the others we have had.

Your microwave is made by Sanyo the one on the recall that you have look up is made Whirlpool.

Have you taken the microwave in to have it inspected?

So, are you saying I should contact Sanyo? Also, how would I go about having it inspected?

You would have to take it in to Sears to have them look at it.

You could contact Sanyo to see if they have any recalls on there microwave but they will not do any thing for you be cause your microwave is made for Sears and Sears assumes all warranty on it.
