Our microwave worked great and then in the middle of preparing dinner on Sunday it just stopped heating and defrosting. We can turn it on as normal but it makes a noise like it's kicking into "gear" and then seems to kick back out. Either way it does not heat or defrost anything anymore. Very frustrated and looking for a bit of advice as I'm pretty handy in fixing things with a bit of guidance. Thanks in advance.

It could be the magnetron, the transformer or the diode.

If you microwave is under five year old it is possible that the magnetron is still under warranty.

Check in your owners manual for the warranty on the microwave and the nearest warranty service center in your area.
