Default Error message F-3
Brand: General Electric
Age: 1 - 4 years

I just moved into an apartment where a General Electric Spacesaver Microwave is already installed. After using it once in the afternoon, it started beeping when no one was even near it. The screen read: "The power level can not be changed at this time." This kept happening no matter what we did all through the night, until it finally showed an error message of F3. That is not listed in the manual, which I do have. Does anyone know how to get it to stop doing this or how to reset it? I have turned off the power to the unit all together and don't know what else to do.

Thanks!

Can you please supply the model number of your microwave?

The code F 3 on a GE microwave stands for a shorted key pad.

The key pad will have to be replace.

Default Microwave Repair - Error message F-3

Thank you, Sheila. It is a GE Spacemaker, model # JVM1443BK02, and it was manufactured in April, 2006.

Replacing the key pad doesn't sound like something I can do on my own, that would require a service person right? Do you know how much that usually costs?

It is best to have a qualified person do the repair.

The price would depend on the company you have repair it.
