My Emerson Microwave Model ME8168B started to arc and spark the other day. The little thing that the glass plate sits on looks and feels like metal it is a small round piece. It is burnt now and also the plastic part that goes over that piece that the glass plate actually sits on. I have found that if I cover the glass with a paper towel the microwVe works without arching, sparking or smoking. What can I do to repair this problem?

You will likely have to replace the turn table drive shaft and the coupler.
