Default Door replacement help
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: spacemaker jvm1850bf001
Age: 1 - 4 years

someone burnt something inside the microwave. there's a burn mark and small physical damage on the inside of the door where the mesh-like liner is. the burn didn't go all the way through to the outside of the door...there's no physical damage to the exterior of the door.

i have the parts list, but i need to know if i can just replace that inside mesh part by myself. i can't see how to start removing the door layers/pieces from the inside.

thanks...

scott

The door on the microwave is pried apart from the inside edge.

If you look at number 6 on the parts breakdown you will see the clips.

sheila...

sorry i didn't say thank you faster, but i've been very busy.

i pried off all of part 6 except the vetical segment that's closest to the hinge side of the door. any tricks to that last section? as a note, the microwaye is still hung over the stove with the door attached.

after taking off part 6, how do i get to the screen layer (film door...part 5)?. taking off part 6 doesn't look like it'll give me access to the film door layer.

thanks again...

scott

There are no tricks and once the trim is off you will be able to peal the film off.

sheila. ok. it was much harder to get the trim off. i dont want to beak anything. so the "film door" peels of like a sticker? just grab a corner of it and peel of? i guess that film layer is ruined/useless after i peel it off, right?

thanks...

scott

Yes once you peel the film off you will need a new one.
