Default Dead Over Range Microwave
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: JVM1650SH01
Age: 1 - 4 years

I went to warm up some food in the microwave this morning and started the microwave the way we always do. After 2 seconds working, I heard a pop and the microwave went completely dead. No display or anything. I flipped the circuit breaker to the range/microwave and the oven reset, but the microwave did not turn back on. I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but my husband attemped to change one of the surface lights on the microwave last night, but the light bulb burst in his hand while he was trying to change it and now the metal base of the lightbulb is caught in the hub. Any suggestions about the dead microwave? I called the GE number in the microwave, but they just suggested a service call. The microwave is ony 3 1/2 years old.

Thanks, ezusan

I can not give you any advice on how to fix this. But I can offer some advice. Make sure your microwave is at least 18 inches above the range. My mom burned up 3 of the over the range microwaves before someone asked he how high it was.

From burnt potatoes to Sheila: Thanks for the reply. The model number is JVM1350WW002 GE Profile over the stove microwave. The panel won't come on. Have found that the gas sensor in the vent was melted a little on the side. Noticed in blowup drawing that there is a flame sensor and a thermostat switch in the microwave. I just replaced the magnatron tube. Hope you can help. Thanks, "Burnt Potatoes"
