Question Damaged Stainless Vent Trim
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: JVM1740SM1SS
Age: 1 - 4 years

Upon removing my over range microwave during a kitchen renovation I damaged the stainless steel trim that covers the vent grill over the door. While it doesnt affect the performance of the microwave, I'd still like to change it but I'm unsure how to remove it or how to determine the actual part number so I can order it. Local GE authorized dealers seem not to know what part I'm talking about or how to go about fixing it....

Anyone have any ideas?

Here is a parts breakdown to your microwave model JVM1740SMSS01.

Although I have not seen one it looks like the trim is snapped in to place.

You may have to remove the grill to install it.

Default Grill inlay

Thanks Sheila.

The part I require is in fact the grill inlay - part 112. My only problem is that I am located in Canada and you do not ship to Canada. Can I possibly buy the part online but have ity shipped to my aunt in Florida? Would that pose a problem?

You should be able to get your part in Canada either through GE or another parts supplier.

The GE part number is WB07x11053.

Where is Canada are you?

Sears have parts for GE and there Number in Canada is 1-800-4MY-Home that is 1-800-469-4663.

GE Canada should have it all so and their number is 1-800-361-1100.

Another place is Reliable parts and their number is 1-800-941-9217.

Or you could have it sent to your Aunt in Florida.

Default inlay grill

Thanks Sheila,

I'll try that part number with the GE people here. They had told me that the part I required was part of an assembly and it would cost over $150. I told them that I thought they must be mistaken as the part I needed was just a thin stainless steel trim that cover the exhaust grill over the door....It was then that they simply got more confused.

Keep you posted.

Thanks.
