Default Cooktop light
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: mh1170xsy
Age: 1 - 4 years

I have replaced the cooktop light bulb. The light still does not work. The bulb checks okay but I have no power to the wires at the socket. I ran the diagnostics test and same results. It appears that I need part #ps993107 or (993103-993107) I'm not sure. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Did you remove the socket and check the wires?

If you still have no power you will have to replace the board.

Here is a link to your microwave model mh1170xsy.

What color is your microwave?

PS993103 is white.

PS9931004 is black.

PS993106 is biscuit.

PS993107 and PS993105 are stainless steel.

Electronic circuit board , part #7103 is no good I would like to know what it is?
A voltage regulator, a transintor, or a SCR. If I can find this part I thing the board will be OK.

We see this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair for customers nationwide. See my user name?

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

You don't have to go to the expense of getting a new circuit board. It can be repaired.
