Default Control Panel Assembly
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: JE1425K02
Age: More than 10 years

I have a JE1425K02 GE microwave which has been diagnosed with a faulty control panel assembly.

The manufacturer, GE, tells me that parts are no longer available, but aftermarket parts maybe somewhere.

I am askng if it is advisable to rapair a microwave of this vintage (GE tells me that this model was manufactured starting in 1986 and that the control panel assembly is not longer available). The problem is that I have a home warantee insurance policy and they would obviously like to repair rather than replace.

I have been told that the magnetron tube in an aplliance this old could be a fire hazard. Please advise.

Remove magnetron and check rf seal for arcing burnt areas, if none the fire hazzard from the magnetron is minimal.
Go to web site stove clock repair WB19X5231 for repair.
Personally,if this is a counter microwave, I would opt for a cash settlement instead of repair; A new microwave would be more reliable.
