Question Burnt potatoes
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: jvm1530ww002
Age: 5 - 10 years

I was cooking some potatoes, went out side and came back in to find a house full of smoke and the mircowave completely shut down. i'am thinking a sensor turn it off. I unplug it and plug it in but it didn't come on. Any ideals

It could have been shut down by the thermostat.

Now that it is cooled down try it again.

Does the light or panel light?

Can you please verify your model number?

Noticed in blowup picture of microwave that hter is a flame sensor and a thermostat switch. Could either one of these be the problem? I just replaced a magnatron tube and had used the microwave for short periods and it seemed to have more power. Hope that some safety feature shut the microwave down and that I can reset it. I noticed that the gas sensor and the exhaust vent was burnt a little. Don't know if this could be it. Any ideas? Thanks for your help, "Burnt Potatoes"

Yes it could be the flame sensor or the thermostat.
