 Broken latch on door Brand: Maytag Model Number: KCMS-145JSS-1 Age: 1 - 4 years
The latch on my stainless steel microwave door is broken, i.e., it just flaps when you push it and will not unlatch the door. A local repair shop ordered the part and has just come to install it. It looked like the plastic panel that fits behind the display. Unfortunately it was the wrong size. The repair person claimed that he had looked at the exploded diagram and had ordered an entire one-piece panel, stainless steel front, buttons and all; so they must have sent the wrong one. This sounds VERY expensive.
Q. Do I really need the whole panel? when I looked at a parts diagram I thought I could make out just a latch. Is this repairman inept or is he putting me on? In addition, the part was backordered and took three weeks to get here. In the meantime I have burned my coffee twice reheating it on the stove! Help! |
