Default Blower starts up by itself with microwave off
Brand: Sears
Model Number: 721800002401
Age: 1 - 4 years

I have a galaxy microwave - 2 years old. One day the fan just started up by itself (high). So now we keep it unplugged when not in use. If we plug it in, a few seconds later the fan will start up. Also if we start cooking and have the fan off, a few seconds into the cooking time, the fan will start up (on high). Need advice pls

Is sounds like you have a stuck key on the touch pad or a problem with the control board.

If you unplug the key pad and the fan starts up you have a faulty control board.

If nothing happens the key pad is faulty.

Default Galaxy microwave blower problem Q#2 f/up

Shelia,

When you say unplug the control panel I am not sure what to do. I have unplugged the microwave and the fan initially started itself anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes. This starting by itself when unplugged is getting longer. The average wait now is more like a minute. Again if I am cooking with the microwave, the fanwill eventually come on byitself.
So as I read your comments I have a faulty control board. Is this something I can replace easily if I order from Sears. I am not scared to take things apart but need to get a warm fuzzy from someone.
THX for responding so quickly--I am VERY IMPRESSED so far with this site!!

If you remove the control panel you will see that the key pad plugs in to the main control.

If you unplug the key pad and then plug the microwave in and nothing happens this will tell you that the key pad is your problem.

Be very careful there is a high voltage circuit in a microwave.
