Default Blower runs all the time
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: mmv1153aaw
Age: 1 - 4 years

The vent blower runs constantly. I have unplugged the microwave and plugged it back in. The touch pad will let me turn the vent from low to high then off. Within less then a minute the blower comes back on and will not turn off. At that piont the touch pad will not work. I have disassembed the control panel and would like to know what wires control the vent blower as I never use it anyway. It is a microwave above the stove. The microwave works fine but the vent blower runs even when it is not in use. It is not the fan for the microwave itself. An electrical diagram or schmatics would be helpful.

Thank you for your help.

could not find a wiring diagram for your unit but did go to the Maytag websit and looked up the User Manual

It says that the vent fan will come on if the microwave itself is hot
They probably have a thermocouple or a thermistor mounted on the bottom of the microwave chassis

Find this and you will probably find the problem

OOps forgot the following

Here is a link to the unit parts breakdown
http://www.partselect.com/CombinedSe...?ID=mmv1153aaw

Looks like the thermocouple is Item 10 on the Internal Controls/Blower Motor page

Hi denman

Thank you for your reply. Will I be able to get to the thermostat by going behind the control panel? I don't think it is possible to remove the full plate under the microwave without removing it from the wall.

Thank you again for your help,
Marty

You could try but it looks to me that the top cover has to come off

since your touch pad stops working I would get a new control. thre is a automatic switch which turns fan on but I dont think that is the problem since the contol panel does not function sometimes jpg
