Default Question about Projection television lamps?

How long will the lamps die out? And can I pick up a replacement lamp at my local best buy store or circuit city, or do I have to go to their official website and buy it from them?

I don’t know much more but I think life depends on how much TV you watch per day and also it depend on lamp quality. I bought a Philips original projection lamp 2 years ago from a website called Discount Merchant Electronics San Diego, California 92154 Samsung, Sony, LG, Zenith, RCA, JVC Lamps BP96-00224J, BP96-00826A, TS-CL110U. Its really amazing work and believe me I have no problem yet. So I would recommend for Philips original lamps. Thanks!

John Smith is correct. Time before failure depends on total use time. Remember, when installing the new lamp to wash hands first to remove all traces of skin oil. Handle the lamp using a paper towel and place in socket. Wipe glass surface of bulb with paper towel to remove any trace oils.

For those who want to know:

You do this to prevent premature lamp failure. These lamps generate a lot of heat and any skin oils left on lamp surface will insulate and keep the heat from dissipating properly leading to filament destruction.
