Default QUALITY or not???

Do you guys go for quality? There are a lot of cheap appliances available. But do you still go for tried and proven brands like GE and Whirlpool? Even if they cost more?

Given the budget, I'll always look for quality when purchasing appliances. However, name brands do not own the patent to quality. I'd gladly consider new brands from Asia with proven track record and priced competitively.

I'm kinda funny this way. Wrong or right, I always feel the brands I know are the best for me. I will pay more for a name brand appliance than something I don't know.

The other thing is I think that it is easier to get parts for name brands than no-names - again just my thoughts.

I'll definitely go for the best that my budget allows. Name brands like GE not only connotes quality but they are also in the cutting edge of technology. Your not only paying for the name but also for more efficient motors and features.

Yes, i will always go for branded models though they are expensive. I believe that higher the investment in the products, higher the rate of return in the form of durability and safety.

That tends to be how I operate. Major appliances most definitely brand is important. Something I will likely replace within a year anyway, not a major issue for me.

I always go for quality. It may initially cost more but in the long run there are fewer problems, repairs and headaches.

It really pays to do your homework when buying appliances. We recently bought a generator. While researching models, we found an off-brand (store brand, actually) that was the exact same as the name-brand model we had decided on. Made in the same place out of the same parts with the same warranty, but with a different label on it. We saved a couple of hundred dollars going with the off-brand.

This does hold true with appliances, "You get what you pay for".
