I get the best quality I can on my budget. That is usually the best I can do.

Personally I would go with the most reliable and Whirlpoor seems to be the most reliable: But if you can deal with a failed fridg, or washer on a Sunday morning and find a service place can only come after a week, and you like your food rotting then I guess off brands are for you!
Also, be awaire that some brands like GE fridges fail to include ANY service info with the unit.
Note: I tell customers I can't do warranty service, Yet I have had customers call me for service when they find out warranty service for some major brands is only available after an unnaceptable length of time!!

I like Whirlpool a lot. I have never had that many problems with their products.
