Default Possessed TV

Hello!
We have a 27" RCA TRUE FLAT that constantly turns on and off by itself and channel surfs automatically. Any suggestions what could be the problem or how to fix?

Thanks

Have you removed the batteries from the remote to check if it is causing the problem. Also check other remotes

Is the TV infrared and/or UHF for the remote
If it has UHF you may be getting interference from another UHF device

Thanks for the recommendation, but yes have tried removing batteries, tv functions on own.was plugged into an APC power supply, tried unplugging it and placing it on a power strip but same thing happens....powers up on own and goes thru channel search.
Had to unplug it so it wouldn't turn on sporadically throughout the nite.

Did a little searching, looks like you are not the only one with this problem, found quite a few with the same symptoms

Here is a link, this fellow says he fixed it
Readers' RCA Experiences

Be very careful, the TV has high voltage in it which can be lethal
On some TV's this high voltage is still there after you unplug the unit

Probably not worth fixing if you have to pay for a repair, could end up costing more than a replacement unit
