Lightbulb Most creative use of a dead machine

I know I have created, seen and heard of a lot of recycled machine ideas. Has anyone ever done something funky with their broken-down washer, dryer, fridge, range, anything?

My mother stores birdseed and other things that need to stay dry in the ancient GE fridge that I mentioned in another thread - the one that I coated with appliance paint.

I have used a busted dryer as a TV stand. If you don't care about organization, the drum works great to hold VHS tapes.

What about you?

Well although I agree this is NOT creative by any stretch, it is an idea. We have a scrap metal recycling yard close to us. After we stripped the old parts in case we needed it for the "new" second hand stove, we smashed up the stove and was paid a few dollars to give it to the recycling yard.

I've used an old fridge as a tool cabinet. The door won't close all the way so there was no danger of a kid being locked inside. I've also seen somebody use a fridge for a tub.

A fridge for a tub is about the ghettoest of the ghettoest things Ive ever heard of. I can picture Randy Quaid sitting in that on his lot.

Believe it or not! I had a old fridge which was of no use. My son removed all the electrical parts ,painted it with some nice bright colors and now we are using it as a cubboard where we are keeping our grandson's little nappies, diapers and other stuffs in an organized way!

That has got to be one of the most creative uses I have heard. It sounds like it is unique and quite handy.

Whats that one show where the 2 guys go garbage picking and take peoples junk and make creative things out of them, then bring it back to the house where they found it?

My husband made a worm farm out of an old freezer once. He said it was great because it helped them stay a constant temperature because of the insulation. Had TONS of worms in that thing.

You could paint it and have it as a statue/piece of sculpture in the lounge?

I have a friend who had placed an old washing machine out on her back deck to await the fall cleanup time (city takes it for free). During that summer she used it to store potting soil and as a potting table (with the lid open) It worked rather well.
