Default KitchenAid Blender

I have a KitchenAid Blender, Mod. #KSB5WW3. I'm replacing the coupling drive on top of the base. Is this part a press on item and how do I remove the old coupling drive?

Default Kitchenaid blender...replacing coupling

Coupling is screwed on with left hand threads. I removed my old coupling by making a thin 7 millimeter wrench out of a joist hanger using a hack saw and needle nose pliers. Once I had the wrench on the shaft below the coupling, it was easy to unthread coupling by turning it clockwise. Barry

How is it going on repairing the blender? I have never had this happen myself.

Default Coupler for Kitchenaid Blender

I bought a coupler from E Bay-Mar-beck Appliance, Phone 816-523-1992. Part # 9704230 cost $4.85 plus postage $3.45.
Attached with LH thread. Used a thin ignition wrench on the underside of the old coupler and rotated old coupler counter clockwise. Easy job. Works fine.

Default Model # KSB5WW3

Thanks for the good advice in this forum! The rubber coupling on my blender has been slowly losing its teeth (from 6 down to 2). I called KitchenAid to see about replacement parts and they referred me to a local appliance repair center that wanted $34.95 to replace this little $5 part. I would not have figured out how to do it without this forum. Thanks, you saved me $30 bucks!

Just found this site and it's great. I'd tried an ignition wrench and even ground it down to fit under the coupling, but couldn't get it to budge. Something was slipping. I can't remember if I tried it reverse threaded so back I go. Thanks.
