Default GE Trash Compactor throws drive chain

GE Model ZCG3100VBB-02:
Hi all,
I've remounted the driver chain on this twice now. Everything runs great until the ram gets to the full down position, then it really gives a loud "thud" when it struggles to reverse. At that point it throws the chain off. Both the motor gear and the large drive gear are in great condition with no damage. Seems like the reverse actuation is really hard with a big bang, whereas when it was new this was a smooth transition. The obvious answer to me is that the reversing switch is faulty, but I would think it wouldn't reverse at all if this were the case. On the parts diagram, the only switch I can find that I think would be the one in question is called the Centrifugal Switch (Motor Switch)" Not sure how this scheme works. Any ideas?

Ok it's fixed. Tested all switches and they were fine. Found the 2 mounting bolts holding the motor/transmission to the ram assy were very loose allowing the motor to lean out of alignment with the large drive sprocket in the full-down ram position. The tension on the drive chain in that position slowly pulled the motor out of alignment momentarily and derailed the chain. I replaced the 2 bolts and nuts and it works great now.
