Direct Vent Motor on Furnace I have a Payne direct vent furnace which has been acting up for a while but the direct vent motor will not start now. The motor previous wouldn't start but I was able to start it after its cycle started by spinning the tail shaft to get it started in the past. Today it finally wouldn't start and the motor just makes a buzz and the shaft was extremely tight. I replaced the bearing at the back of the motor with a sealed bearing and the shaft now spins freely until the cycle is engaged. Once power is sent to the motor the shaft seems to become tight and when the power is shut off the shaft spins freely again. I'm wondering if the problem is the motor or the capacitor and how to determine if the capacitor is working or not. |
