Default Leaking InSinkerator

I have a model 5-38, & there appears to be a small hole on the right side of where the drain connects to it. When I turn the water on, the disposal seems to run normally, but water pours out of this hole. Is this some kind of overflow hole? Any suggestions?

It sounds like you may have a bad seal.

Can you please verify your model number?

sorry, also didn't say it is 1/2 hp? It is probably about 12 years old. I've never had a problem like this before.
