My garbage disposal is leaking and it looks like it is coming from cracks in the unit. What causes the cracks and can they be fixed?

If there are crack in the unit it will likely have to be replaced.

Where are the cracks?

Model number is FWD-2-2 cannot find a name brand on the unit. The cracks are on the large brown unit that the pipes run into....sorry?? I don't know the proper name of the part.

I can't locate your model number in our database but it sounds like the unit will have to be replaced.

Agreed. The cracks sound as though they are in the basket area.

Unfortunately disposals are not generally a repaired item. They tend to be made to be replaced rather then fixed. The cost for these in my area ranges from about 60.00 - 250.00 and replacing a unit is not very difficult.
