Default Won't start, Blowing Thermal Fuses
Brand: Roper
Model Number: EL4030VW1
Age: More than 10 years

When this started I checked the voltage and door switch. Next checked the Thermal fuse and it was open. I replaced it, wondering why the high limit thermostat didn't stop it. Next week, wash day, it stopped again, and again the Thermal fuse is out.

I now need to replace the Thermal fuse and is there a way to check the Hi limit thermostat with a multi meter or would you just recommend a new Thermal Cut-off kit?

If so which would you recommend for my model. (I know it's made by whirlpool, but would like to make sure).

Thanks Doug

I would recommend the kit

You can check thermostat by placing a soldering gun on the face and heating it up while measuring continuity but this only tells you that it will trip and not what temp it is tripping at.

Most important is: you have to locate what is causing the underlying overheat problem
The most common cause is a dirty vent system
But can also be caused by a exterior vent flap not opening, clogged up blower wheel, lint screen coated with softener residue ( especially if liquid softener is used in the wash, cycling thermostat, etc.

Wow, I took apart the Vent tube and couldn't believe how dirty it was. About 1/3rd of a bucket of trash.
I'm about to order another Thermal Fuse but there are two Thermal Cut-off Kits.
PartSelect #: PS334278
and
PartSelect #: PS334299

I know this model is older than 10 years but don't know how much, bought used.
The Serial is: MB4828140 if that helps.
Could you advise which kit?
Thanks, Doug

Am not sure just put the info in with the order and you should get the right parts

As long as the items you want are 6 and 15

Item 23 the white thermal fuse is not included

or call them
