Dryer was working fine until Control Lock accidently engaged. When unlocked, no heat. Circuit Breakers seem OK, and the dryer tumbles and the timer is correct. Does something need to be reset?

Here is a service manual
ApplianceJunk.com - Downloads

Have you turned the breaker on/off slowly a couple times.
Sometimes one side of the 220 volts can shut off without actually tripping the breaker.

If the diagnostics and breaker reset do not work then you will have to measure the components in the heater circuit. If you do not have a volt/ohm meter I would buy one. You can get a decent digital multimeter for under $20.00. You do not need fancy, it is nice if the leads are a couple feet long. If it saves buying one unnecessary part, it has paid for itself.

Alternative 1: short out the components and try a run Re: thermostats and relay contacts
Alternative 2 call a service rep

Here is a parts breakdown should help locate various parts

Thank you. I heard from Whirlpool today. They suggested that I unplug the dryer for 2-5 minutes, to re-set it. I had unplugged and re-plugged it before, but didn't wait 5 minutes. (Aren't computers wonderful?) I did that, and it's heating fine now. It was such a helpful email from Whirlpool. The hardest part was finding the Contact Us box to communicate with them.
Thank you, too, Denman.

Let me tell you what the problem is. You have to replace the control board. Not the one in the front. You have to take the top off, there are three torx screw in the back. Then lift the top, and the board will be located on the left side. The part # is 3980062. This is easy, you cando it. If you need me to walk you through the repair, you can reach me at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com Tom
